I find myself continuously and infinitely empowered by the work of other writers. There’s nothing quite like a beautifully written piece of someone’s heart, expressing their pure and open opinions and passions. And so, once a week I would like to start sharing with you an article of inspiration as part of my blog.
This week I stumbled across an article by Kate Atkinson whilst searching for answers from an online astrology website called The Numinous. Call me crazy, but there are things going on at the moment that simply must be the work of something greater than us, and sometimes astrology can shed light on the chaotic uncertainty.
This article looks at an alternative side to emotional eating, exploring the topic of Orthorexia, one which I personally resonate with on such a high level. Kate shares her honest opinions on the detrimental effects of seeking an unachievable perfection when it comes to our diets, and her words are such a breath of fresh air!
‘I believe perfectionism is self-abuse of the highest order – and deprivation just another means of exercising control in a world of imperfect unknowns. On a parallel with OCD, it’s a way of ignoring our pain and conforming to perceived societal norms…but what for exactly? To maintain the body of a 12-year-old who’s never even menstruated, or, come to think of it, slept with a man who told them they had a great ass?’ K.Atkins
If you too are in search of inspiration or just fancy reading a beautifully articulated article then this is for you.
